ABOUT JUSTICE LINDA DAVENPORT

WHERE SHE COMES FROM

Linda was born in Muscatine, Iowa and, when she was 4, her family moved to LaGrange. She graduated from Lyons
Township High School and then received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado. She
graduated from DePaul University College of Law in 1978 and started her own law firm.

HER CAREER

Over the next 28 years, Linda's law firm grew to house its own building in Westmont with 7 lawyers and many
support staff.

  • In 1995, she was sworn in as the first woman President of the 117-year-old DuPage County Bar Association

  • In 2006, she was appointed an Associate Judge in the 18th Judicial Circuit (DuPage)

  • In 2016,  she received the Inspirational Woman Award from the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers

  • In 2018, she was the first Democrat to win election as a Circuit Court Judge in DuPage County’s 179 year history

  • In 2022, she was unanimously appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to serve in the 3rd District Appellate Court which covers Kankakee, Bureau, LaSalle, Iroquois, Grundy, Will, and DuPage Counties.

 

In addition to her career in the law, Linda sat on the Wheaton City Council for eight years. She was active in the bar association, serving on the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. 

HER COMMUNITY

Linda loves her town of Wheaton, where she has  lived for over 35 years. She and her husband, Joe Fortunato, have
been married for 44 years and have three children and three grandchildren. Linda served on the Wheaton
City Council and Library Board, ran the PADS program for the homeless for 15 years at her church, and
taught genealogy at a local church in Naperville.
